what makes bullet proof glass bullet proof?

  1. It's either a lot of layers of laminated glass (like what you get in car windshields, but with more layers), that and a wire mesh in between layers, or polycarbonate (a kind of plastic).

    Either way it's not fully bullet-proof, as the glass or polycarbonate isn't usually re-usable, but it is bullet-resistant in so far as it's strong enough to stop the bullet from coming through.
